Steam concurrent players: top 100 games of July 2026, 2012 to 2026
Counter-Strike 2 averaged 854,000 concurrent players in July 2026, the most on Steam and 14 percent of this group's combined 5.9 million. Dota 2 follows at 548,000 and Palworld at 418,000; together the top three hold 31 percent of the total. The 100th game, THE FINALS, averages 13,000.
How it is measured
SteamCharts polls Steam's public player counts and publishes each game's concurrent-player history. This page tracks the 100 games with the highest July 2026 monthly average, chosen from SteamCharts' 200 most-played titles on August 1, 2026; membership is fixed, so a new hit enters only when the page is deliberately updated. Each month's value averages every reading SteamCharts serves for that month: recent years carry hourly readings, so those values are true monthly averages, while older history keeps one reading per month, which SteamCharts records at the month's high point. Concurrent players counts everyone running the title at the same moment, including idle players, and anything on Steam qualifies: desktop toys like Wallpaper Engine and Bongo Cat rank alongside games.
What the tiles show
Valve's two mainstays still anchor the platform: Counter-Strike 2 and Dota 2, both tracked since SteamCharts' first month in July 2012, combine for 1.4 million average concurrent players in July 2026. The rest of the top ten mixes survivors and novelties: PUBG: Battlegrounds holds 330,000, down from its January 2018 peak of 3.24 million, still the highest count in this series; Rust holds 106,000 twelve years after early access; and Task Bar Hero, a taskbar idle game released in June 2026, averages 284,000. Longevity is the norm further down too. The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth posted its biggest month on record in July 2026, twelve years after release, and Stardew Valley and Warframe both sit near their long-running levels around 60,000 to 68,000.
